Head coach of the Frederick Cadets football team Pat Cadden has handed in his resignation to spend more time with his family. Cadden took over the struggling football program in the midst of a great deal of turmoil at Frederick High School. The school was under construction to make way for a new school, there was a high rate of coaching turnover in athletics and while the basketball programs were peaking, football had fallen into disrepair. Cadden, who stepped in in 2023 after serving as the defensive coordinator, took his team to the state quarterfinals in ’23 and ’24. Cadden when asked if this was it for his coaching career said: “No. I definitely can see myself coaching somewhere soon. I am definitely not done.

The Middletown Knights football team was poised to make another run at a Maryland State championship this time in a new division, the 2A/1A. However, this morning school administration sent an email out to parents notifying them that an ineligible player had suited up against Liberty in the second round regionals and that made it necessary for Middletown to forfeit that game. That means that Middletown football’s season is over and Liberty will move to the quarterfinals instead. It was not disclosed by officials which player was ineligible or why.

This year Linganore is undefeated and ready to bring home the coveted trophy for the Lancers display case. Oakdale Bears Alex Rodriguez may be the only thing in the way of a Linganore perfect season. Both teams will meet at the Naval Academy Saturday Dec. 6 @ 7pm.
